Dichroic glass pendants! So fun.

(Edited to add: Since so many people are asking for and reserving these, I've marked them accordingly below so you know what's still available.)

Fused glass pendants, transparent dichroic glass with embedded high-temp wire. I drew a resist onto the glass and then hit it with acid to etch in the patterns.

This glass is notoriously difficult to photograph because the color shifts depending on light source, angle, and background. The photos below show two views of the same pendant.

I'm not really happy with the view on white... too shadowy. I'll try to rephotograph them using a light box. (done!)

Shipping would be $4. I plan to post these on eBay with a starting bid of $15... or should I start at $1 and use a BIN of $20? Decisions, decisions!

I always knew you were going dotty. ;)

I think I'm keeping these two for myself:

And a coworker has already offered to buy this one if I put on gold jump rings instead:

i am trying to talk anadaseva into buying one for his god daughter.

how durable are these babies? she's about... 12 i think?

so how big are they? 1 inchish?

Inch, inch and a half at the extremes. Durability is quite good, but some are just a single thickness of glass which is easier to break if you (say) drop the corner on a hard floor.

If you're looking for total durability, I suggest some of the ones that are two thicknesses all over or almost all over, without acute corners. Like these:

I definitely would like to get one for my god-daughter, they're beautiful. I'd probably have to go with my girlfriend's opinion of the best one though, I just see pretty sparklies. :) I left you an IM on AIM, but you can contact me via email at shaggywolf dot gmail dot com.

I was teh stupud and forgot to add this journal. HUR HUR. I /really/ need to get some of these from you, chica. Have you considered dangle earrings? I know it can be hard with this stuff to get them to match, but I'd love a few pairs of uneven dangles with dichroic glass.

Out of curiosity, how big are the pendants? I get paid on friday~~~

Welcome to it. ^_^

I'm definitely considering making some rectangular dangle earrings, yeah. That's all I wear.

It shouldn't be TOO hard to match them to each other, though matching them to a particular pendant might be tougher. I'll try to make some earrings in the next batch to show you. :D

As for size, they range from 1 inch to about 1.5 at the extremes.

They're very lightweight since two thicknesses of glass = 3/16 inch thick total.

If you decide not to buy any, I'm still complimented that you'd even consider it. ^_^

Well, I know I definitely want some earrings! I've ideas for dangles that involve hanging from chains, but I'd love to see what you can come up with! I might sketch up a few designs (re: the chains) because I'd kill for some pairs that are to my style, but I'd really much rather see your creativity shine.

I made some basic rectangular dangles tonight with some cross-hatchy pattern. They look good to me. :) I'll take photos um, soon. Thursday night prolly.

I was more focused on the photoetching of Lorem Ipsum tonight... (see my newest entry!)

If you do start sketching designs, remember that straight-edged polygons are the easiest to cut from glass. The patterns ON the glass have more flexibility though, especially now that I've bridged the digital divide.

FORGE THE GREAT BLOOD RING IN THE MIGHTY FIRES OF THE DEMON-PIT OF DREAD LORD OZEK WHILE CHANTING THE NINETY NINE NAMES OF THE DAMNED SOUL-SHREDS THAT HAUNT THE PRECIPICE OF PAIN'S INFINITE REALMS.

After that, I hand it over to Jen. Jen?

Check. I do that at least three times a week. Twice on alternate Sundays.

Next? ^_^

Right! After doing all that, you swallow the Great Blood Ring whole.

Assuming you survive the process and your limbs haven't burned down into useless stumps, then you Paypal $19 (which is $15 plus the U.S. priority mail rate) to jen@beware-of-art.com with your home address.

Thank you so much for supporting my work! :D :D :D

FYI, in case it isn't already obvious, 12 and 12w are the same pendant -- just different backgrounds. They're very color-shifty!

Watch out. Morgoth gets really touchy about people biting his apprentice's ideas sometimes.

I would like to reserve the bottom left and/or the bottom right, if that's OK. You can have the Wonder Offspring! (He'd make a great cabana boy, and I'm sure his wife will understand when she sees these babies!

Bottom left reserved! Thanks for giving me the Wonder Offspring. I can sell him back to you for $19 if you'd like. ;) Paypal to jen@beware-of-art.com

P.S.: Do you want the silver jump rings, or goldtone? Currently silver, but with that gold swirl, maybe gold would fit better. But really it's up to you. ^_^

If you are giving up painting those great cats and dogs, it is at least for something I love just as much.

I'm giving up the big paintings since my one possible sale fell through and nobody wanted the others... but don't worry, I'll still be drawing cats and dogs and such on paper. :)
