Jen, how detailed can you do text on these?

I'm thinking around xmas time to treat myself to a pendant. I'd like my name written in kanji phonetically (mousseau = musou which means daydream) but the two kanji are fairly complex. I'm asking because I have no idea how you transfer the design to the glass. Anyway, this wouldn't be until around december. Would you be interested?

Sure, I'm interested. :)

I make the acid resist digitally, so in theory it should be able to pick up a fairly detailed image. After all, it picked up the little curlicues on the "R" and "A" in Claire... The pendant is about 1.5 inches tall, for reference, so that's fairly good resolution.

If you can get me a copy of the kanji to use, I could give it a shot. Bold lines would reproduce better, if only because it'll show up more brightly on the glass.

If I can't get a successful transfer onto the glass, I can make the resist using a brush or marker using the right stroke weights, etc... but I'm sure it would look better if I could pull this off digitally!

Right now I'm figuring my custom pendants are $20+$4 to ship.

Drop me an email at jen@beware-of-art.com when you want to get rolling, and let's try this out.

P.S.: Is this the kanji?
It romanizes it as "kuusou" instead of "musou" though... you must mean a different one.

Anyway, I'm sure I could acid-etch kanji of about that same complexity and boldness. :)

No, those aren't the exact kanji, but would be the same complexity. Actually, the second one is, but the first is a different character that is normally read yume. So, pretty close! If you google yume + dream + kanji you should find the first character. I'm off to get my son off the school bus so I don't have time right now.

I'll leave this until november or so. Right now I'm too broke but by xmas I will be wanting to treat myself. I'm happy to know it's possible!
